Storm Damage Repair in Blanchard

Once a hailstorm or strong wind has passed, we get up on your roof, record the damage in photos and talk you through it in plain terms. Repairs use matched materials, your plants, siding and driveway stay covered, and the site is cleaned at the close of each workday.

Repairing what the storm actually did

Storm damage often hides from anyone standing in the yard. A hailstone can fracture the mat inside a shingle while leaving the surface looking nearly untouched, and hard wind can pull loose the adhesive that holds a course of shingles down, letting them flap and settle back flat. Either one lets water in well before a ceiling stain appears.

We begin by sorting true storm damage from normal aging. One roof may need a few shingles and fresh flashing. Another may be bruised across so many slopes that patching just postpones a bigger project, and if that is your situation we will say so and suggest you read about roof replacement instead of paying for repairs that will not last.

Your home is looked after the whole way through. Tarps are laid out before any work begins, and every nail, shingle scrap and piece of old flashing goes away with us.

What storm damage repair includes

A check of every slope
We look over each face of the roof, plus vents, pipe boots, ridge caps and metal edges. Soft metal such as a vent cap holds a clear record of a hailstorm, and the size and spread of its dents point to the stone size and the side of the house that took the worst of it.
Photos labeled by location
You receive clear, dated photos of each problem we found and where it sits on the roof. Keep them on file for your home, or hand them to your insurer if you decide to open a claim.
Matched shingle and flashing repair
Damaged shingles are swapped for the nearest match in profile and color, lifted tabs are resealed or replaced, and flashing at chimneys, walls and valleys is refitted.
Temporary cover when needed
If part of the roof is exposed while materials are on order, we secure a cover over it so rain does not reach the attic in the meantime.
Gutter and downspout check
Hail leaves dents in gutters, and wind can work hangers loose. We note what we see, and our gutters service can take care of it during the same visit.
Daily cleanup

Signs your roof took storm damage

  • Granules in the gutters

If sand-like granules collect at the downspouts right after hail, the shingles were likely hit hard enough to strip away part of their protective coating.

  • Dents on metal vents and edges

Small round dings on vent caps, drip edge or gutters are visible from the ground and suggest the shingles were struck too.

  • Shingles lifted, creased or missing

Wind can bend a shingle backward and leave a line across it. It may lie down again, but the seal is gone and a later gust can tear it free.

  • New water spots indoors

A ceiling stain that shows up after a storm, or damp insulation in the attic, means there is an opening that should be repaired soon.

  • Debris or limbs on the roof

Fallen branches can break through decking or rip shingles, even when nothing looks wrong from below.

How a storm repair job runs

  1. 1

Your call and a scheduled visit

We agree on a time to come out, hear what you saw after the storm and write down any leaks you have found inside.

  2. 2

    Inspection and photos

We climb up, record the damage, then sit down with you to go through the pictures. You get a straight answer on whether repair is sensible or the roof has reached its limit.

  3. 3

    A written, line-item estimate

Each material and task is spelled out so you can line it up against an adjuster's report if you file. We describe how claims generally work, though your insurer alone decides coverage.

  4. 4

Repair day with your property covered

Plants and patios go under tarps, ladder feet and tops are padded where they meet the gutters, and work stays within the areas we agreed on. Most storm repairs wrap up in one day.

  5. 5

    Walkthrough and tidy finish

Before leaving, we run magnets over the grass and driveway, load out the debris and take you around to see the completed repair.

What affects the cost of storm repair

No two storms leave the same marks, so the price depends on what we find once we are on the roof. Your written estimate lists each item, and nothing is added without talking to you first.

How much of the roof is damaged
A few torn shingles on one slope is a small job. Bruising spread across several slopes takes more material and time.
Roof pitch and access
Steep roofs need extra safety setup, and tight lot lines or heavy landscaping can slow the work.
Matching existing materials
Older or discontinued shingle lines can be harder to source, which may affect both cost and how closely a repair blends in.
Damage below the shingles
If water has soaked the decking or underlayment, those layers have to be replaced before new shingles go on.

Storm damage repair questions

Something not covered here? (405) 805-8344

Should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?

Plenty of homeowners ask us to look at the roof before they contact their insurer, so they can find out if anything was actually damaged before starting a claim. Our photos and written estimate give you something solid to take to that conversation. Whether to file, and what gets covered, is decided between you and your insurance company.

Will you meet with my adjuster?

If you would like us on site for the adjuster's inspection, we can walk the roof with them and point to each spot shown in our photos. We explain what we found up there. Settling the claim and deciding coverage stay between you and your insurer, and we never act as your adjuster.

Can you match my existing shingles?

Usually we can source a close match in profile and color. Because shingles fade with sun and weather, a fresh repair can look a shade brighter for a while. When an exact match is no longer made, we lay out the options for you before anything is installed.

How do I know if it needs repair or a full replacement?

Two things decide it: how far the damage spreads and how old the roof is. A sound roof with damage in a few spots is well suited to repair. When hail has marked most of the slopes, or the roof was already close to the end of its life, replacement is often the wiser way to spend your money.
